I am in the process of travelling the world, though I do it very slowly. I teach High School Spanish most of the year. I studied in Spain in the summer of '03. In summer 2004 and 2008 I went to Japan to participate in a world aikido competition. I went to a National Conference in Las Vegas in summer 2005. If you don't know where to find me, I am probably at the dojo...

In summer 2006 I went on my dream vacation to Ecuador and the Galápagos, the islands where Darwin developed his ideas on Natural Selection and Evolution. I sailed to different islands and swam with sea lions, rays, penguins, and sea turtles. In Ecuador, I rode a bike down a volcano, visited some Inca ruins, and stood on the equator. I also rode on the roof of a train while watching some spectacular Andean scenery go by. In the cloud forest I watched tucans, hummingbirds, and butterflies.

Where to next? I want to journey to Perú, trek the Inca Trail, and visit Machu Picchu. I hope to make a return trip to Spain, one day, as well. I must see more of Europe! I lived there when I was ages 3-5, so it feels like going home. I also want to go on a hiking safari in Africa. I would love to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, although I am rethinking it based on my experience climbing Mount Fuji.

I am currently trying to see the more local part of the world on my bike. I am hoping to get 600 miles on my bike by Labor Day. Last year I did 1000 miles but I didn't go on any 3-week trips, either. I am still working occasionally on editing this novel I began in November 2004. Last summer I took a trip to go biking in Moab, Utah. The scenery is spectacular and there are road and mountain bike options. The desert is amazingly beautiful and full of life!
